Scarab silver earrings with turquoise
[ZO-21ST]

Total length: about 42 x 10 mm

These beautiful earrings feature real turquoise stones from Sinai.

In ancient Egypt, the scarab was the symbol of the creative powers of the rising sun. Scarab is the name of a group of dung beetles. They collect dung from horses and camels, which still contains a lot of undigested fiber. There they spin balls from which they lay their eggs. The dung balls, which are made and rolled by the beetles, were also associated with the sun, and therefore with Chepri, because of their round shape. Chepri was the god of the rising sun who, as it were, created a new sun every day. The scarab was therefore considered a sacred animal in Egyptian mythology. In hieroglyphics, the scarab is depicted as arising, creating or transforming.
