In ancient Egypt the scarab was the symbol of the creative forces of the rising sun. Scarab is the name of a group of dung beetles. They collect manure from horses and camels, in which there are still many undigested fibers. There they spin balls from where they lay their eggs. The manure balls, which are made by the beetles and rolled up, were, due to the round shape, also associated with the sun, and therefore with Chepri. Chepri was the god of the rising sun that, as it were, created a new sun every day. The scarab was therefore considered a sacred animal in Egyptian mythology. In hieroglyphs the scarab is depicted as creating, creating or transforming.
